What is Love Letters?
Love Letters A.R. Gurney’s play has a simple plan: Tell the story of a relationship through letters. Two childhood friends flirt, fight, forgive and forge separate lives--remaining there for each other through the written word at each stage in life.

From the Dramatists Play Service listing:
"A unique and imaginative theatre piece which...is comprised of letters exchanged over a lifetime between two people who grew up together, went their separate ways, but continued to share confidences. As the actors read the letters aloud, what is created is an evocative, touching, frequently funny but always telling pair of character studies in which what is implied is as revealing and meaningful as what is actually written down." Through their letters to one another, these friends seem to "rebound consistently, always wondering internally where their relationship is taking them. Along the way, there are hopes, triumphs and tragedies." Gurney manages to capture the simple joy of a lifelong love and friendship.
